Tokyo Gashoku plans
This page is a work in progress. This started out as the basic info for the 2014 Gashoku but I am keeping it and retitling it Gashoku plans.
Tokyo Gashoku is usually the first weekend in May. All Roppokai members are eligible to attend. Those who go can look forward to several days of intense training at the Gashoku, Tokyo Hombu and with Hayashi Sensei. I will also act at tour guide for our members while in Tokyo.
The trip is expensive with airfare, hotel and travel expenses such as daily train/subway, food and souvenirs. I recommend you start saving now. The basic cost will be about $3,000 for 10-14 days. The fees for the Gashoku and other training is minimal. I usually plan to spend about 7 days in Tokyo. You will need your passport.
I and many other foreign members from other countries usually stay at the Sakura Hotel in Ikebukuro. Those who travel with me will stay there. Look at their web site. http://www.sakura-hotel-ikebukuro.com
Usually the earlier air tickets are purchased the cheaper. We cannot make hotel reservations more than 6 months out but as soon as we can we should jump on it. When I have more information I will let you know.
A basic breakdown of a one week budget. Some of the numbers are a little high, some are low. Some are an average. The money spent in Japan will also depend on the exchange rate which varies on average from 100-120 yen per dollar. I generally calculate yen to dollars at 100 for easier math. It is likely that if you budget $3,000 for everything you will have a little left over when you are done. Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world.
Airfare average round trip $1,500
7 days food in Tokyo yen 23,100
7 days train/subway yen 12,500
7 days hotel yen 40,600
first step promotion fee yen 3,000
Gashoku fees for hotel/food/facility yen 12,000
