Okamoto Sensei

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my teacher Okamoto Sensei.  Sensei passed away January 16th 2015.  He would have been 90 in February.  Sensei was a greatly skilled teacher and mentor.  I loved him as my teacher and as my, "Other" Grandfather.

I first met Okamoto Sensei in 1990 when I began my study of Daitoryu Aikijujustsu in Okayama Japan.  Through the years I have grown to love this simple, kind and honest man who shared his skills with many of us.

Okamoto Sensei came to Oregon 3 times to teach seminars and our Oregon Roppokai membership enjoyed his presence.

Sensei giving us training on the floor at Hombu Dojo in Tokyo.

Sensei demonstrating on Mark Hague at our first Oregon Seminar.
After a seminar, Sensei Steelhead fishing on the Oregon side of the Columbia River.

Sensei designated our Oregon Group Seigokan and made this sign for us.

Sensei was a very good shot with the pistol and rifle.
